Did God Make Me Crazy?
Hormones, faith and the rollercoaster of being a woman.
Some days you’re fine. Other days you’re crying in the car, snapping at the people you love, and wondering if you were built this way on purpose. Lauren Alessi-Burgos asked for real: she took the question to an OB-GYN, a psychiatrist, a therapist, and a theologian, and their four very different answers became this book.

Am I crazy? Or cyclical?
It’s the question you’ve asked in the car, in the shower, and at 11 p.m. over a sink full of dishes: What is wrong with me? After asking it one too many times, Lauren decided to go get a real answer. So she took it to the experts: an OB-GYN, a psychiatrist, a therapist, and a theologian.
What started as a question about hormones turned into a much deeper conversation about biology, emotions, relationships, and faith. Four experts gave her four different answers. So, did God make you crazy? The answer might just surprise you.
You are the whole month, not the loudest week.
FROM DID GOD MAKE ME CRAZY?
Inside, you’ll find:
Honest, funny, and never preachy. This book won’t hand you a permission slip. The chemistry is real. So is the responsibility. But your worst week doesn’t get to write your story.
One question. Four experts.
She asked. They answered. They didn’t agree.
Four conversations run through this book, and each one changes the answer.
Dr. Ingrid Paredes
The body: a practicing OB-GYN on what your hormones are actually doing, week by week.
Napatia T. Gettings, MD
The mind: a functional psychiatrist on where chemistry ends and choice begins.
WROTE THE FOREWORD
Dr. Angie Gonzalez
The village: the therapist Lauren called first with this idea, on why you were never meant to white-knuckle this alone.
Nathan Finochio
The faith: what God was thinking when He made women cyclical. (For the record, he says men are crazy too.)
The woman who asked the question
Lauren Alessi-Burgos is a therapist, mental health coach, and podcast host with a master’s in counseling. She founded The Hot Mess Society, a no-judgment community for women who are done pretending they’re fine, and she lives in Miami, Florida, with her husband, Daniel, who has lived every chapter of this book in real time.
She wrote Did God Make Me Crazy? because she got tired of choosing between books that blamed her hormones for everything and books that pretended they didn’t exist.

Questions?
When do I get my book?
Your copy will be waiting for you at the Metro Life Church lobby on launch Sunday in early December. Chapter 1 and the How Loud Are Your Hormones? assessment arrive by email within minutes of your order, so you can start tonight.
Do I have to be religious to read this?
No. Faith is one of the four conversations in the book, not a prerequisite for reading it. Lauren wrote it for every woman who has ever asked the question, church or no church. It’s honest, funny, and never preachy.
Is this just a book about PMS?
No. It’s a book about your whole month: your biology, your mind, your relationships, and your faith, and what happens when all four finally start working together instead of taking turns ruining your week.
Can you ship it to me?
Not for this pre-order: books are pickup-only at the Metro Life Church lobby on launch Sunday.
